Settings


Voici les fichiers essentiels:
  • MULTICON.PRG : le patch à éxécuter au démarrage
  • MULTICON.DOC : la documentation anglaise
  • MULTICON.SND : le fichier son de démarrage
  • 08000600.TGA : l'image de fond en 800x600
  • 06400480.TGA : l'image de fond en 640x480
Tout ceci se trouve dans le même dossier, par exemple F:\MULTICON.
Here are the required files:
  • MULTICON.PRG : the patch to be run in auto mode at start
  • MULTICON.DOC : english documentation
  • MULTICON.SND : the start sound
  • 08000600.TGA : background image 800x600
  • 06400480.TGA : background image 640x480
All of them located in the same folder, for example F:\MULTICON.


Pour que MultICON puisse corriger les couleurs des icones, il faut qu'il puisse localiser en RAM l'emplacement où le bureau les a chargées.

Pour ce faire, il faut éditer son fichier DESKCICN.RSC et modifier deux noms:
  • La première icone doit s'appeler SSSSTTTTAAAA (comme start, en majuscules!)
  • Le dernière icone doit s'appeler EEEENNNNDDDD (comme end, en majuscules!)
Une fois les icônes repérées, le patch peut corriger les couleurs selon le mode écran.
MultICON must be able to locate in RAM the space used by the GEM to store the icons, so then it can correct the colors.

In order to to that, you must edit DESKCICN.RSC and change two names:
  • You must rename the first icon as SSSSTTTTAAAA (as start, in upper case!)
  • You must rename the last icon as EEEENNNNDDDD (as end, in uppercase!)
Once located, the icons can be colorized according to the current video mode.


Si une image de fond d'écran est chargée, elle n'apparaît qu'avec un réglage particulier de l'aspect du bureau:
  • La couleur doit être le blanc
  • L'une des six trames doit être sélectionnée
Tous les autres réglages vous permettent de revenir à l'affichage standard et même au blanc en prenant la trame pleine.
If a background image is loaded, it only appears when a specific setting is made for the desktop appearance:
  • Color must be white
  • One of the six patterns must be selected.
With every other setting, you can go back to a standard display and even get the white background selecting the solid pattern.


Il faut également modifier NEWDESK.INF.
Le bureau ne sauve pas correctement ses réglages lorsqu'une application est réglée en lancement automatique. Je fais donc les modifications de NEWDESK.INF avec un éditeur de textes.
  • La ligne avec #Z spécifie le chemin d'accès à MULTICON.PRG pour le lancement au démarrage
  • Les deux chiffres verts de la ligne #Q spécifient le réglage couleur du bureau, ici 1=première trame et 0=blanc.
Last, you can modify NEWDESK.INF.
As the desktop doesn't save correctly its settings when an auto-run application exists, I make the modifications using my text editor.
  • The line starting with #Z specifies the path to MULTICON.PRG to run it at start
  • The two green digits on the #Q line specify the desktop color settings, here 1=first pattern and 0=white.
